A structured, six-week Life Coping Skills curriculum — 28 units across personal development, coping mechanisms and job readiness, delivered through interactive, activity-based learning.
Coping is the effort we make to manage situations we experience as potentially harmful or stressful. A coping attitude is a philosophy that accepts life will not always be the way we want it to be — but that our coping skills can help us make the best of it. The programme treats coping as a life philosophy that can be learned, developed and perfected over time.
To enrich the lives of young adults by:
Coping is about keeping the faith, hanging in, and managing fears, doubts and frustrations — it is our adaptability and capacity to overcome adversity.
Each of the 28 units is handled for 6 hours, across two 3-hour sessions — 168 hours in total, with dedicated evaluation time built into the plan.
Each unit runs across two 3-hour sessions, combining theory with interactive exercises — using transparencies, posters, group discussion, role play and questionnaires to keep every unit interactive.
The unit's purpose is explained; a relevant question is put to the group and answers are drawn out from the students.
The core concepts, framework and language of the unit's theme are introduced and explained.
Charts, questionnaires and group activities let students apply and personally assess the theme.
Students close the unit by summarising what they've learned, in their own words.
The curriculum moves from personal foundations, through coping mechanisms for specific life challenges, to fitness for the world of work. Tap any unit to read what it covers.
Beyond theory, each unit draws on a consistent mix of activity-based methods — keeping the programme practical, participative and assessable.
Because the programme surfaces real issues and challenges, personal counselling is recommended alongside it. A student profile is built up at entry, mid-course and exit, and each student keeps a Life Coping Skills diary recording their learning after every unit.
